Good Enough
Hey friend,
By the second week of summer break, I start to feel the same frustration every year—my house is always a mess. The outdoors get tracked inside, and there are wet towels, hoodies on chairs, and half-empty ice coffee cups everywhere.
What I’m realizing is that I expect my house to look and feel the same as it does during the busy school year. But it’s different in the summer because we’re home more often and don’t have a strict schedule. We’re just going with the flow and doing what sounds fun. And honestly, the fun isn’t in cleaning my house.
So this summer, if I have a clean bathing suit ready, that’s good enough!
What is an expectation that you have to let go of to enjoy this season?
With love from my porch,
Jodie 🌿

This book went into the bookshelf that is within arms reach...not the bookshelf that is down the hall. Mindful Humaning is a companionable, friendly book that acknowledges that humaning is hard, and we often don’t do it well, and we want to do better. This book explains in a non-shaming, deeply compassionate way other ways of humaning better. The author speaks as one who is on the same road, perhaps a few steps farther along in thinking this through. The exercises in the book--along with the space RIGHT THERE--makes them approachable and immediately helpful. If you find yourself “losing it” or acting in ways that aren’t OK and you’re looking for ways to make better decisions moment by moment as a lifestyle, this book is for you!
Take a moment to share this with the people in your life; these may be the words they need to hear!
